Home > Thank You From Paul Ritchie
THANK YOU from PAUL RITCHIEI just wanted to say a massive thank you for everyone's support.
Over the past few weeks there has been some effort put in regarding raising some funds for David Balfour family.
In February 2009 ACT Fire Brigade senior Fire Fighter David Balfour was deployed as part of the ACT Fire Brigade response to the devastating Victorian bush fires. Tragically, David was killed on the fire ground in the line of duty and not only did the ACT Fire Brigade lose its first Fire Fighter , so did the Fire Fighting fraternity feel the loss of a valued member.
Dave , aged 46 , was a senior Fire Fighter with 11 years of professional service . Dave`s passion and commitment as a Fire Fighter in serving the community was wee known amongst those with whom he worked. Dave is survived by his wife and three children aged 14,13 and 10.
Last week a run was conducted from Melbourne Town Hall to Canberra . 24 ACT , 6 MFB- Greg Cotterill, Karl Paton, Russell Fox, Jon Sculley, Mick Childs , Paul Ritchie and 4 CFA Fire Fighters ran just over 800 kms in memory for David Balfour. The run was about mateship and camaraderie and bonds were formed for the special reason of supporting another Fighter and his family.
Thank you to all the people in the MFB , CFA and others who donated to the Balfour family . Your contributions have provided the Balfour family with a life made easier with you support.
Through Fund raising nights, memorial run and trust funds ,an approximate total was raised.
The total approx as donations are still flowing in are ; $ 260,000 .00
Thank you again to the Fire Fighters who supported the run and thank you to all who donated , this is a great job and its must we stay united in times like these.
Regards ,
Paul Ritchie
